How To Pick The Right Shoes - Suit Lab
How To Pick The Right Shoes
Taking your little gentlemen's getup to the next level In this guide we will explain several important keys to note when choosing what style of shoes should you go with. The Derby Shoes The once popular sporting and hunting boots in 1850s have now become appropriate to wear in town. They are easily identified by their open-styled lacing, allowing these shoes for a wider fit. Contrary to popular belief, derby shoes are not constructed only for formal occassions. The semi casual construction of these shoes also allows one to wear them casually when strolling around town in style. The Brogue Shoes A little fun fact; brogues were initially designed in scotland with real holes to drain out water. Nowadays those perforations on the shoes' upper gives them a distinctive character that other smart shoes lack. Perfect for contemporary gentlemen anywhere, brogue shoes are all about versatility. By being less formal than the previous Derby shoes, they are perfect for work - for example in a laid-back offices. Wear them with your favorite three-piece suit, or go for casual yet refined look with a white button-up shirt and rolled-up dark denim jeans, brogue shoes can never be wrong. The Penny Loafers As classic as it gets. Penny loafers sports a leather strap across the top of the shoe, with a slot just wide enough to hold a small coin. A theory states that the slots were used by American students to hold coins for making phone call. Either that is true or not, penny loafers is the ideal choice for going smart casual. These legend pair of shoes are by far the best choice if you are going for a casual party. Yes you can still wear your suit, even put that vest on before, but make sure for the bottom half you wear a nice slim-fitted pair of chinos or corduroys. Sock or no sock is absolutely your choice, but as the writer I personally recommend no sock. So which one should I choose? Of course at the end of the day the choice is in your hands. The most important thing to wear is confidence. You can dress as sharp and fancy as you want, but if you keep looking down you are not impressing anyone. So straighten your back, puff up that chest, chin up, and steal those attentions!
How To Dress A Page Boy - Suit Lab
How To Dress A Page Boy
How to dress the little guy to steal the “Awwws” Traditionally a page boy’s role was to carry the bride’s train as she walks down the aisle. Nowadays a page boy (ring bearer) often carries the bride & groom’s wedding bands and/or is there for cuteness appeal. Pageboys are typically 2-8 years of age and walk down the aisle with either a flower girl or the mother of the bride. Considering a few things ahead of time can make the process less overwhelming for both you and the little guy. The most important and often most tricky thing to consider is sizing. It is also helpful to decide on a style and colour. Here at Suit Lab, all our boy suit pants have an elastic waistband and are minimally lined to ensure the little guy is more comfortable (not grumpy) and less restricted (for tearing up the dancefloor). While renting is an option at other retailers, we recommend buying a suit. Little ones are notoriously playful which can make returns tricky and at times costly. Most youngsters are more comfortable being measured at home. We have created a sizing video & guide to help you have a more accurate idea of sizing. Be careful not to fit him too early, as we are sure you are aware children grow out of a size in a matter of months. We recommend planning about 4 months before the day but fitting only 1 to 2 months before. Always take the weather into consideration. All our suits here at Suit Lab are sold as a 3-piece, jacket, vest and pants. If it’s really hot or he’s just not a fan of wearing a suit, opt for pants and a vest. The vest will keep him looking smart by keeping his shirt in place. A pageboy suit is usually the same as either the groom or groomsmen. We recommend matching the colour and style to the groom or groomsmen to make the youngster feel important and included. Match his tie to the colour of the bridesmaids or flower girl dresses. Give him a playful boutonniere, pocket square, little suspenders & matching shoes – have fun with it!
